Word of the Day: Biases

Bias, the singular form of biases refers to an inclination towards something; predisposition, partiality, prejudice, preference, predilection and in the sense of being something positive can represent a person's having already had the benefit of a learning experience which is then automatically and for the most part subconsciously applied to have some affect on a decision making process.  Bias or prejudice can also be a negative thing when it has been based upon a false premise or is somehow improperly applied as typically seen when poor relationships have developed between differing races or cultures.  Because bias seldom actually occurs singularly the chosen word of the day became biases, which has the added benefit of being in somewhat less common usage.

The above discription refers to cognitive biases but biases are also widely applicable to physical processes as well as mental ones as more fully discussed by the linked Wikipedia article and this term thereby lends itself to use in blended scope applications.  A quantifiable amount of physical bias can often be expressed in various units of measurement depending upon whether one is dealing with a force of gravity (newtons), electrical charge (volts), fluid pressure (psi) etc. each further demonstrating the universal concept of biases.  The quantification of mental/cognitive biases is problematic at this time although there might be some degree of an individual's qualifications to be claimed.  In simple graphic terms, the application of any continued active force of  Bias tends to push or pull all things out of the Grey and towards either the Black or the White.

This is definitively a matter of having a directional active energy in play whereby the most persistent net force may (or may not) ever appear to actually "win" such a tug of war although in an amusing parallel to Einstein's Theory of Relativity even the determination of "winner" often remains subjective to the bias of any participating observers or in some cases the participating debaters.  Alternative universes are apparently created by the witness of two or more equally qualified observers bearing opposing biases who nevertheless each assert that "this is so" whereby an application of imaginary numbers would also seem to become the rule.  Rectification of such an event may become evident as methods of both quantification and qualification of cognitive biases evolve, assuming of course that delusional persons and/or liars are not in direct competition with persons bearing speculated Genetic disorders, specifically those who lack the God gene  (VMAT2) where the lack thereof may have prohibited the development of some generally ineffable Senses being relied upon by the opposing party.
In the absence of a continuously applied directional net force of bias in the physical universe all things ultimately become gray, null and void, a corollary of which is that just as each participating observer will witness an event as being subjective to their own biases, any non-participant's ("outside observer") more objective, presumably bias-free viewpoint will also ultimately witness all things as being gray, null and void as well as unimaginative and thus too dull for words.  Assumptions hereto include that like-units of energy exchange exist in common Spacetime dimensions which precludes exchanges between (for example) theists and atheists if each is of the "strong" variety whereby no common ground exists upon which to battle (see above on "alternate universes") .
