(This is one of my favorite quotes, but while the good and capable Sir Arthur may have been by these words referring only to our physical universe, this more than applies also to that of the non-physical. There is no level of paranoia or conspiracy inclinations which can come close to describing the reality which (thankfully) exists beyond our perceptions.)
Belief as an article of faith in something unknowable may be granted as acceptable and even adopted as favorable to civil convention, however, as many who claim to "know" that to which others attach doubt are either accepted as leaders of men or deemed simply foolish if not certainly mad.
